Next Stop - Oscar Jordan

“NEXT STOP..” Over the span of 3 years, I compiled a body of work that captured my daily commute to & from school. What started with one picture, led to a complete series & book filled with over 75 images. Everyday brought the opportunity to capture a unique perspective with subjects ranging from doctors, students, elderly citizens, & everything in between. The idea was to portray candid moments of people just trying to get from point A to point B.

The photographs are moments of being; leaving the viewer no other choice but to reflect on the sheer emotion & thoughts sparked by the images. From the inside of this train cart, we are able to experience the vantage point of normal people, like you & me, who are just trying to find their place in the world. No matter our differences, we are all trying to get from one place to another.

These images were taken, selected, & organized with the intention of being a source of inspiration to the viewer, in any stage of life they may be in. Whether they are at rock bottom, complacent with their current standing, or making a conscious effort to level up in life, this train of life continues to push forward. With that being said, I felt that there was no title more fitting than one that embodies the idea that there is always still room for improvement. We are all on the life train & we’re all just trying to get to the “NEXT STOP..”. - Oscar Jordan
