Ecophilia is a project by award-winning designer and educator Constantin Boym, presented in collaboration with Available Items. Inspired by Italian designer Enzo Mari's famous open-source book, Autoprogettazione, and the belief that eco-humanism needs to find its expression in design, Ecophilia is a series of seventeen modern habitats for plants and animals that anyone can build using materials and tools that are accessible, economical, and environmentally friendly.
The book contains detailed instructions and drawings for building and installing each piece - ranging from bird and bat houses to herb planters and worm towers. It also includes historical context and an inspiring foreword written by James Wines, artist, architect, and founder of the influential environmental design studio SITE.
