CAC Málaga presents the catalogue to a broad survey exhibition featuring works by the multifaceted artist Franz West (1947–2012). Considered one of the most charismatic and influential sculptors in contemporary art, West’s unique aesthetic is characterised by the interplay of irony and humour. Included here are sculptures made of various materials, such as papier-mâché, plaster, polyester, and aluminium, as well as several collages and furniture objects. The book follows his artistic evolution and transition from sculpture to the broader field of the sculptural, and even further into the performative realm, wherein he relies on the spectator’s active role in the artwork.
