Sketchbooks gathers selected pages from over a decade of drawing, scanned and compiled in Miami Beach, where the artist grew up and now lives. Moving between ink, collage, and found materials, the book offers an intimate look at his process and the evolution of his practice.
Juan Joe Heredia is a self-taught painter who lives and works between New York City and Miami. His work moves between figuration and abstraction, using layered mark-making and repetition to build compositions that feel both constructed and in flux.
He grew up surfing and maintains a strong connection to the beach, which continues to inform his sensitivity to movement, light, and shifting surfaces. His paintings emphasize process, with gestures that are built up, obscured, and reworked over time.
Heredia has presented solo exhibitions at Desnivel Gallery and Driveway Press, and has participated in group exhibitions at Harpers Gallery in New York and Giovanni’s Room in Los Angeles. He participated in a residency at the Macedonia Institute.
